Sax'n for Jesus Ministries
When did you start playing the sax?
I started playing alto sax when I was in the 4th grade at age 9.
Why the saxophone?
I have loved the saxophone ever since I laid my eyes on one many years ago. The sounds I heard from this instrument were incredible! I couldn't wait to get one and learn how to play it.
My favorite sax players:
Boots Raondolph, Tom Cherry(Boot's side man), Denis Solee and of course, John Coltrane. Many other greats too numberous to list.
People who made a difference in my life:
My parents for all their support and listening to my sqeaks and squaks throughout the years. My first band teacher, Mr. Barney Mundy who always told me "practice makes perfect". My pastor as a young boy, Lloyd Roberts and wife Gwen. Thanks to you both for encouraging a young boy to use his talents for the Lord. Thanks to Reggie Lafaye for his encouragment as well. I also appreciate the support of my current pastor, Phil Nordstrom at Chist Community Church in Murphysboro.
Type of Sax/Mouthpiece:
Sax is a Martin Richards mid-60's model. Otto Link #8 mouthpiece with Peter Ponzol 2.5 reeds
